MatSu Food Bank

MatSu Food Bank

The MatSu Food Bank leads the effort to eliminate hunger in the MatSu Valley by engaging our community partners in the battle against hunger.

The Mission of the MatSu Food Bank is to support partner agencies throughout the MatSu Valley and beyond, ensuring they have enough food to fulfill the need in their communities.

The growth in this mission tells a powerful story.

In 2023, we distributed 56,389 pounds of food to our network of partner pantries.

In 2024, we distributed 130,594 pounds of food a year over year increase of over 131%.

In 2025, we distributed 312,397 pounds of food a year over year increase of over 139%.

In just two years the MatSu Food Bank has increased distribution to our 30+ partner agencies by 454 percent!

Hunger is not just about empty cupboards — it is about families making impossible choices. Seniors deciding between heat and groceries. Parents skipping meals so their children can eat. Working families doing everything right and still falling short.

The MatSu Food Bank serves as both a lifeline and a hub — bringing together local agencies, schools, churches, businesses, volunteers, and community partners to ensure healthy, nutritious food reaches the tables of those who need it most.

Behind those numbers are families. Children. Seniors. Veterans. Students.
And when emergencies have struck across Alaska, we have stood shoulder to shoulder with food banks and pantries statewide — because hunger does not stop at borough lines, and neither does compassion.

Our mission goes beyond distribution. We believe food is a basic human right. We believe dignity matters. We believe collaboration is stronger than isolation.

MatSu Food Bank

The MatSu Food Bank is proud to serve as a place of hope, partnership, & action.

Together — as one Valley — we are proving that when a community unites around compassion, hunger loses ground.

And we will not stop until every neighbor has a seat at the table.

“No one should ever have to go hungry”
